Baby Shmizz: Big Boy Room

Today is the day: we switch to the toddler bed....

Last night when I was putting Jack to bed, it took about an hour, because he got out of the crib FOUR TIMES. Once, he even climbed back IN. So, our crib days are over. And truly, honestly, I'm really sad about it. I love having to come in and pull him out of the crib, I feel like it keeps him little.

Also, in my crazy messed up mommy head, I feel like the room needs to have a makeover. Everytime I go in the room, its his "baby" room, that I planned every detail for so many months when I was pregnant and after he was born. I love that room, I love the way it turned out and how happy I feel when I walk in there. But I know that when he is in the toddler bed, I'm going to think big kid, and having the room the same is going to make me miss my teeny little babe even more. I'm a wack job, I know.

And I don't have the time (or the money, really) to completely overhaul the room. So I'm sticking with the same basic color scheme of blue and green, and updating everything a little bit. The main colors will be a little brighter of a lime green and navy blue, and it will still be the ocean theme (naturally with his huge giraffe plush in the corner). Because I'm not completely redoing the whole thing, I feel like I have to make something special for him to make myself feel like I've done a good job in there (I told you, I'm nuts). Since I couldn't find a bedding set that I liked enough, I decided I would make him a little quilt for his bed :) I'm pretty good in the sewing department, so I know I can pull it off. I'm not doing anything crazy, just a modern fat-strip quilt.

But of course, since I'm a classic Gemini, I can't make up my mind on fabrics. So here is where you guys come in! Take a look at the inspiration board below and let me know if you like these fabrics, or which ones you would choose. Which fabric should be the focal fabric on the bigger strips? What color for the backing? Would you do it in minky/fleece/flannel instead of just plain cotton? Or, if you know of a fabric that you think would look great, leave me the link!
